We were both born in the Bay area of California. We resided in San Ramon, California. Jerry worked in Heating & Air Conditioning, and I worked as a receptionist at Smith Barney, a brokerage company.
When Jerry’s job closed, our really good friends said they were going to move to Arizona, and we should go with them. We decided, what the heck, we had nothing to lose as the kids were all gone and lived in different states. We sold everything and bought a 37-foot 5th wheel and a 550 Ford truck. We ended up in a place called Valle Del Oro in Mesa. We were there two years and couldn’t stand the heat. We heard about a park off Page Springs in Cottonwood that needed two couples for night management. We hopped in our truck and headed to the park, and they hired us on the spot. We packed up our rigs and headed out to the park called Lo-Lo-Mai off Page Springs Road. We worked there for one year and I got bitten so bad from No-See-Ums, I was miserable. My husband drove around and found Pine Shadows and said I would love it. Jerry got a job working in Heating & Air Conditioning and I worked at the Verde Canyon Railroad for four years. What a kick that was. We have now been here 21 years and still love it. Our good friends also bought a home that was used and have fixed it up beautifully. We love the park, and everybody is so friendly. Why would you ever want to leave? We will be here until the good Lord takes us.
